Business Application Analyst - Aberdeen

To support our growth, we are seeking a confident, customer focused and self-motivated Business Applications Analyst to join our team in Aberdeen on a Permanent or Contract basis.  Applicants must have extensive prior experience in a similar role, preferably within Oil and Gas, along with excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to multi-task and the confidence to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with clients, users, management and 3rdparty software vendors.  The successful candidate will work as part of an Applications Support Team to provide operational and project technical support  for the business applications portfolio and will be responsible for the following tasks on a day to day basis:

  • Diagnosing and resolving support calls specifically related to requests or issues with business applications
  • Managing the involvement and interaction with other support parties including:
    • Application vendors
    • Infrastructure support
    • DBA support
    • Desktop support
  • Identifying improvements to applications and related support services
  • Working with business stakeholders to determine and translate their application requirements

Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:

  • Relational database design, configuration and querying
  • SQL scripts and/or SQL query creation and maintenance
  • Deploying/Supporting applications within the oil and gas industry
  • Application stack diagnostics (eg. application interface through to back-end infrastructure)
  • Strong customer orientated approach with a good track record of delivery in an environment of continuous improvement
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships at all levels of the organisation, taking time to get to know and understand customers, gaining their trust and respect
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under sustained pressure with conflicting demands and respond to fast changing circumstances

 

It would be beneficial for candidates to possess experience supporting Maximo, Maxavera, Primavera and Spotfire and ITIL® Foundation and/or have experience of working within an environment which has adopted ITIL® methodology, in particular incident, change and problem management.
