IT Security Consultant - Aberdeen

We have an immediate requirement for an IT Security Consultant in Aberdeen (6 months contract).  The IT Security Consultant will be responsible for technical governance over IT security architecture and services by providing internal consultancy and practical assistance on all information security risk and control matters.  The IT Security Consultant will be responsible for ensuring timely responses to tenders, security audits and questionnaires, collaboration with business units, partners and legal teams and development / implementation of Cloud based services.


Skills & Experience required;

  • Degree level education in computer science, information security, information assurance, or related field preferred; or equivalent professional work experience required
  • Proven experience within IT and cybersecurity
  • CISSP certification preferred; other applicable certifications a plus (GSEC, GSNA, CISA, etc.)
  • ITIL certification
  • Must have working knowledge of security technologies such as Cloud Integration, Azure IaaS, Azure PaaS, O365, InTune, Active Directory Group Policy, anti-malware tools, computer forensics tools, firewalls, identity access management, IDS / IPS, multi-factor authentication, network devices, SIEM products, threat intelligence, vulnerability scanners, and web filters on premise and in cloud environments
  • Must operate with the highest level of confidentiality
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Self-motivated and ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong verbal, written, communication and presentation skills
  • Strong understanding of concepts and technology across all IT areas to be able to develop appropriate controls
  • Ability to work with little supervision and consistently deliver results
  • Strong technical ability and contribute to technical designs discussions, proactively identify challenges and risks, working closely with engineers on addressing challenges and form mitigation plans
  • Understanding of attack vectors, current threats, and remediation strategies; Experience with computer forensics practices and procedures, basic investigations, and evidence handling


Role Responsibilities;

  • Ensure solutions fit strategically in infrastructure architecture and existing technology standards and also aligned to appropriate internal InfoSec standards and market good practices.
  • Perform analysis of current environment to identify deficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Review and provide advice on high-level design decisions to ensure proper integration of new solutions including cloud technology and services.
  • Deliver quality assurance (approval) of security deliverables, to include revising and drafting test plans, security specification reviews and standards, and technical documentation.
  • Perform information security reviews of current and potential third party / vendor relationships for external access requests.
  • Manage security event investigations following forensic guidelines.
