We have an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and skilled Applications Support Engineer to join our team in Aberdeen. The successful candidate will have specialist knowledge across the support and management of applications, be a team player, possess excellent communication skills and have undertaken previous Application Support roles within a large enterprise setting.
What you’ll do
- Provide frontline support for E&P business applications and services
- Work with the various teams to ensure services meet business needs
- Liaise with 3rd party vendors and provide contract management support where applicable
- Participate in the change management process
- Installation, configuration, administration, support, maintenance and troubleshooting of the application portfolio
- Onshore and offshore business application support
- Related hardware accessory support and asset management
- Patching application servers and databases
- Participate in business-critical upgrades
- License management (negotiation, purchasing, renewal, audit)
What to bring
- Extensive prior experience with application support within the Oil and Gas sector
- Exposure to working with SAP ERP Solutions, such as S4 HANA and Ariba.
- Exposure to working with SAP SuccessFactors
- Application installation & configuration experience
- Good familiarity with Windows operating systems (Client and Server)
- Experience of application licencing services
- Good working knowledge of IT change management processes and principles
- Strong customer orientated approach
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the confidence to liaise with individuals up to Senior Leadership level and external vendors
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships at all levels of the organisation, taking time to get to know and understand customers, gaining their trust and respect
- Ability to multi-task and work well under sustained pressure with conflicting demands and respond to fast changing circumstances
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Proven documentation skills
- Ability to be self-supporting and proactive
- An awareness of emerging technologies and demonstrable desire to stay current
- Experience and understanding of working within an ITIL environment
