Natalie Hunter

Natalie Hunter’s first experience of technology transformation didn’t happen in a data centre. It happened on the shop floor of a supermarket in Scotland.

Watching traditional cash registers give way to barcode scanners, weighing machines and automated checkout processes during her student job sparked an interest in how technology can enable the way people work.

More than two decades later, as the Operations Director of prosource’s US business, that same fascination still drives her approach to large-scale technology programmes across global organisations.

Early in her career, Natalie was often the only woman in heavily male-dominated technical environments, particularly across the infrastructure and oil and gas sectors. Those experiences influence her leadership style and her passion for supporting and developing people entering the industry.

Natalie believes communication is one of the biggest factors in whether transformation programmes succeed or fail. In her experience, projects work best when stakeholders understand why change is happening and feel involved in the process rather than having it imposed on them.

A defining moment that shaped her approach was working on a major North American infrastructure exit programme, which initially appeared overwhelming. Having established a process, it then became one of the most rewarding experiences of her career as the complexity was unravelled and the programme was delivered successfully.

Even today, the moments Natalie enjoys most are the major cutovers. Feeling the satisfaction of the team when the months of planning and work finally become reality is her favourite part of the process.
