We have an excellent opportunity for highly motivated and skilled Applications Support Engineers to join our team in Aberdeen. Thes are key roles focusing on the deployment and management of software applications to support the company’s operations and will also form part of a project team undertaking transition and integration activities in support of a merger and acquisition (M&A). If you are a team player, possess excellent communication skills and have undertaken previous Applications Engineer roles we’d love to hear from you. This is a hybrid role working a 3/2 pattern (minimum of 3 days onsite).
What you’ll do
- Implement and support application solutions to meet business requirements
- Creation and maintenance of operational documentation (incl. processes, procedures, design & configuration, and operating manuals)
- Complete knowledge transfer and hand over activities in support of M&A
- Support the application lifecycle from deployment, ongoing support and decommissioning activities
- Monitor application performance, identifying and resolving issues to ensure optimal functionality and user satisfaction
- Provide technical support for E&P business applications and services addressing any issues in a timely and effective manner for office based and offshore/field based users
- Seek opportunities to innovate and improve application development processes and technologies.
- Liaise with software vendors and service providers as required for application lifecycle support to ensure services meet requirements
- Utilise performance metrics to improve system stability and monitor and report on capacity metrics
- Participate in out of hours support rota as required
What to bring
- Experience of working in IT within the E&P or Energy sector
- Direct experience as a systems administrator in support of E&P applications
- Experience with RDBMS’s – SQL/Oracle
- Good familiarity with Windows operating systems (Client and Server)
- Working knowledge of security and access management (SSO, AD)
- Good communication skills (verbal & written)
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Good working knowledge of ITIL processes - change, incident and problem management processes
- Experience of agile methodologies
