We have an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and skilled Data Governance Analyst to join our team in Aberdeen or London.
The Data Governance Analyst will play a critical role in establishing foundational data governance practices, focusing initially on M365-related projects. Working within the Information Systems & Digital function, this role will help define and document data governance requirements, supporting the broader objective of creating a global data governance framework.
This position will also act as an informal interim liaison across departments to ensure data practices align with governance goals.

What you’ll do
- Conduct requirements gathering and analysis to establish data governance standards for M365 projects, specifically targeting compliance, data retention, security, and accessibility
- Develop and document governance procedures that will be foundational for broader organisational adoption and alignment with M365’s data handling capabilities
- Assist in shaping the data architecture within the IS function to support governance requirements, focusing on data storage, data flow, and security within M365 and other integrated systems
- Provide input to align data architecture efforts with governance standards, even in the absence of formal data stewardship, ensuring that data integrity and data quality are maintained
- Act as a data governance point of contact within the IS function, coordinating with business units to identify critical data needs and interim ownership of governance responsibilities
- Facilitate clear communication and guidance on data governance policies to business units, ensuring that stakeholders are informed and engaged with governance practices from the outset
- Where necessary support regulatory compliance assessments and participate in risk evaluations related to data governance.
- Ensure that the data governance practices meet legal and regulatory standards, mitigating data-related risks during early implementation stages of the governance framework
- Document and monitor the effectiveness of data governance practices, identifying areas for improvement as part of the global data governance framework’s expansion
- Support the gradual establishment of formal stewardship by maintaining comprehensive governance documentation, audit trails, and interim ownership processes to ensure accountability and promote a smooth transition as data governance practices mature

- Analytical Thinking - ability to assess complex data environments, focusing on identifying risks and applying initial governance standards effectively
- Organisational Skills - must be capable of maintaining rigorous documentation and audit trails to support long-term governance and compliance needs
